JobFin
A job application tracker that maps your commute distance to every company, helping you stay organized and find roles that fit your everyday life.
01 — Objective
The Problem
Job hunting often turns messy fast — applications pile up across spreadsheets, emails, and sticky notes, and it's easy to lose track of where you've applied or accept an offer without realizing the office is hours from home.
The goal was to build a single platform where every application, its status, and its real-world commute distance live in one place, so job seekers can make decisions based on their actual day-to-day life, not just the job description.
02 — Solution
The Approach
JobFin was built as a full-stack job application tracker centered on one detail most job boards ignore: commute distance. Users start by setting their home address, which becomes the reference point for every application they log afterward.
For each application, JobFin calculates the real driving route and distance to the company using OSRM, rendered on an interactive map built with MapLibre GL. Users can track company, position, and status (Applied, Interview, Offer, Rejected) for every application, all searchable and filterable from a single dashboard. The dashboard also visualizes progress over time — applications by status, monthly trends, and average commute distance — giving users a clear picture of their job search at a glance. Authentication supports both Google sign-in and email with a full forgot/reset password flow, keeping every user's data private and secure.
